In the Wave, Forrester assessed the most prominent cloud platform providers’ cloud-first security capabilities and market strategies. The providers include Alibaba, Amazon Web Services, Google, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Tencent.

Among the eight vendors Forrester examined, Google Cloud secured the top score in the Strategy category and received the most 5 out of 5 ratings across the 22 evaluation criteria in the Wave.

The assessment was grouped into three high-level categories: Current Offering, Strategy, and Market Presence. Forrester conducted thorough research, analysis, and scoring in its evaluation.

Google Cloud was given the highest score for the following: Data Centers, Security Certifications, Administrative IAM, Hypervisor Security, Guest OS Security, Container Security, Network Security, Vision, Market Approach, Planned Enhancements, Innovation, Delivery Model, Commercial Model, and IPNS revenue.

Google’s innovation is ahead of competition

“[Google] has a strong vision and strategy for developing the market approach for its IPNS solution set. Its go-to-market approach is based on real-life customer requirements. Google’s innovation as well as delivery and commercial model are ahead of those of other vendors evaluated,” writes the report.

“Google offers convincing admin identity and access management (IAM) capabilities as well as robust hypervisor and confidential computing security. Network security, especially WAF, and segmentation/microsegmentation are ahead of competitors. Google is a great fit for organizations with complex guest operating systems and network security requirements.”
