Nano Banana Pro brings studio quality, adds 4k, and fixes text

Written by Jana Brnakova | November 26, 2025

Generative AI moves fast, but Google’s latest release, Nano Banana Pro (built on the powerful Gemini 3 Pro engine), feels different.

The original Nano Banana image model (technically Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Gen) was great for coming up with creative ideas, but it often failed at the basics, like writing clear text or creating high-resolution images. It was fun to use, but hard to use for work.

Now, Nano Banana Pro fixes those specific problems. Here is a look at the features that make this update so cool and useful!

1. The text revolution

This is arguably the single biggest upgrade in Nano Banana Pro compared to its predecessors.

Before this release, asking an image model to put accurate words on a poster often meant spelling errors and illegible characters, but Nano Banana Pro changes that completely.

Perfectly legible text

Clear, readable, accurate text directly inside the image, whether it’s a short tagline or a long paragraph.

Complex text design

Detailed text in mockups, posters, and intricate diagrams, allowing for a wider variety of textures, fonts, and even calligraphy.

For example, it can handle the “How much wood would a woodchuck chuck” tongue twister and actually render the letters so they look like they are made of wood.

Multiple languages

Write or translate text directly on an object in the picture.

You can design a soda can with English text, then ask the model to rewrite the label in Korean or German, and it adjusts the text while keeping the design intact.

2. Information made visual

Nano Banana Pro can reason on top of image generation by utilizing Gemini’s real-world knowledge and even connecting to Google Search to understand context.

This means it acts as a visual assistant that understands data, not just a tool for making pictures.

Accurate charts and graphs

Previous models struggled to draw charts to scale, often making up random bars or lines. Now, we can generate accurate data visualizations, like revenue growth or GDP per capita charts, where the visual elements actually match the underlying numbers.

Data visualization

You can upload long documents (like a 92-page PDF or complex financial reports like Nvidia’s Q3 earnings) and ask the model to convert them into a single, easy-to-read infographic or a summary drawn on a whiteboard — this is the concept of visual compression.

Grounded in search

The model upgrades features like “Help me visualize” in Google Slides and NotebookLM. If you ask for an infographic on a specific topic (like how to take care of a houseplant or a recipe for cardamom tea), it pulls factual information from Google Search or your source documents to make sure the visual is technically correct.

3. Editing with studio quality

The core story of Nano Banana Pro is fidelity and control. It turns an average image generator into an “absolute professional” tool.

Blending multiple inputs

The previous model struggled to mix different elements together. The Pro model can handle up to 14 reference images in a single prompt. It also maintains character consistency for up to five different people. This means you can build a scene by combining product shots, background photos, and specific character references into one cohesive image.

Precision editing

You can make subtle changes without ruining the rest of the image. For example, you can tweak a character’s expression to look concerned or perform complex edits that require specific knowledge.

Virtual staging and blueprints

You can upload a 2D floor plan and turn it into a realistic 3D house, or stage an empty living room using photos of specific furniture. It keeps the textures and dimensions accurate to the reference.

Advanced creative controls

Granular control over the “virtual camera”. You can adjust the lighting (like switching a scene from day to night or applying dramatic chiaroscuro effects), change the depth of field to blur the background, and alter camera angles just like you would on a physical set.

4. Quality and format

The biggest downside of the previous model was the low resolution. It made the images hard to use for anything professional. But Nano Banana Pro has done a major upgrade of this.

Native 4K resolution

The model now generates images in 2K and 4K resolution. This is four times sharper than the old version, making the images crisp, professional, and ready for print or high-definition screens.

Full aspect ratio control

You can now instantly resize any image to any aspect ratio you need with a simple prompt, making repurposing content across platforms (16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for LinkedIn/Instagram, 9:16 for Stories) incredibly simple and fast.

👉 A note on safety: All images generated by Nano Banana Pro are watermarked with SynthID technology to verify if an image was created or edited by Google AI, even if it looks real.

If you have access to Gemini, the best way to understand the upgrade is to experiment. Try taking a document and asking the model to turn it into a visual story, or generate a brand asset and resize it for different social platforms. You will quickly see how much the precision has improved.
