Gemini 4 Argon in Google Workspace: How to actually get access

Written by Jana Brnakova | October 21, 2026

Google’s newest frontier model, Gemini 4 Argon, reached general availability on October 13, 2026. Since then, one question keeps landing in our inbox: “Do we already have it?” For most Google Workspace customers, the short answer is no — not automatically.

Argon is Google’s most capable model yet, built for deep, multi-step work: complex coding, legal and finance analysis, and cybersecurity defense. It currently ranks #1 on the Vals Index (as of October 12, 2026), which measures performance across finance, coding, legal and tax work. But getting it into your teams’ hands depends on which licenses you hold. This post breaks it down.

Who gets Gemini 4 Argon today?

Argon is not included by default in core Google Workspace licenses, and in Gemini Enterprise an admin has to switch it on. Here’s how access breaks down:

Where you work Argon access
Standard / core Google Workspace plans (Business, Enterprise) Not included by default
Google Workspace + an AI add-on (e.g. AI Expanded Access or AI Ultra Access) Available
Standalone Gemini app with Workspace extensions Only for users on Google AI Ultra (now discontinued) with Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar and Tasks extensions enabled
Gemini Enterprise Available, but an administrator must enable it first
Google Cloud and developers Available via Google Cloud, the Gemini API (paid tiers) and Google AI Studio
Individuals (non-business) Requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription

If your users open Gemini and don’t see Argon in the model drop-down, that’s expected. It’s a licensing question, not a bug.

One exception to know about: some tools, such as Workflow Builder, don’t support Argon yet and still run on previous-generation models.

How to unlock Argon for your teams

In Google Workspace, Argon needs an AI add-on license on top of your base plan. In Gemini Enterprise, it needs an admin to turn it on.

  1. Check your current licenses. In the Admin console, see whether any users already hold an AI add-on such as AI Expanded Access or AI Ultra Access.
  2. Decide who actually needs it. Argon is built for the hardest work — long-document analysis, complex financial and legal research, multi-step coding. Google recommends Gemini Flash for everyday, high-volume tasks, so most organizations give Argon to specific teams, not everyone.
  3. Add the AI add-on for those users in the Admin console.
  4. On Gemini Enterprise? Enable the model. An administrator turns Argon on in the Google Cloud Console or Workspace Admin Console under Gemini Enterprise > Feature Management > Model Availability. Users can then use it in Workspace tools and developer environments, and developers can call the gemini-4-argon model ID via the Gemini API, Agent Platform and Google Antigravity.
  5. Building on the API instead? Argon launched at an introductory price of $2 per 1M input tokens and $10 per 1M output tokens until November 30, 2026, then $4 and $20. See Google’s pricing page.

Who benefits most from Argon

Argon pays off where work is complex, high-stakes and slow to do by hand. These are the teams where it fits best:

  • Financial services and FinTech: finance and tax teams whose calculations and data extraction need to be precise, repeatable and verifiable.
  • SaaS and software companies: engineering teams handing off long, multi-step coding tasks. Google reports that its own teams using Argon in Antigravity increased agentic code submissions by more than 35% while cutting rollbacks by nearly a third.
  • Legal and back-office teams in larger enterprises: reviewing case law and regulatory filings to pull out verified citations and key precedents.
  • Security-minded teams: finding and patching vulnerabilities in your own code with Argon’s defensive cybersecurity capabilities.

For everyone else, Gemini Flash already covers day-to-day drafting and Q&A, so there’s no need to pay for Argon across the board.

Get Argon to the right people with Revolgy

The fastest way to find out what Argon is worth to you is a focused pilot, not a company-wide rollout. As a Google Cloud Premier Partner, Revolgy helps you:

  • Pick the right pilot team: the one with the hardest, most time-consuming work.
  • Get access set up correctly: the right add-on licenses, or Argon enabled in Gemini Enterprise.
  • Train the team on real tasks: live, hands-on Gemini training sessions.
  • Measure the result: time saved and output quality, so you know where to expand and where Flash is enough.

FAQs

We have Google Workspace Enterprise. Isn’t Argon included?

No. Even top-tier Workspace plans don’t include Argon by default. You need an AI add-on license such as AI Expanded Access.

We have Gemini Enterprise. Do we get it automatically?

Argon is available for Gemini Enterprise, but not switched on automatically. Your administrator needs to enable it under Gemini Enterprise > Feature Management > Model Availability.

Should Argon replace Gemini Flash for everyone?

No. Flash stays the right choice for everyday tasks. Argon is for the deep, multi-step work that used to take hours or days.

What is Argon especially good at?

Complex software engineering, precise and verifiable work in finance, legal and tax, and defensive cybersecurity — finding and patching vulnerabilities, for example through CodeMender.
